A free webinar by Schools History Project recorded on 2 March 2026. This webinar is the second in a series on the history of gardening, looking in particular in the links between gardening and medicine. Useful for anyone teaching or studying a breadth-study History of Medicine module at GCSE History.
Hosted by SHP’s Dan Lyndon-Cohen, speakers included:
- Dr Natasha Hodgson (NTU) who provided a keynote on women, medicine and gardening in the medieval world.
- Dr Caitriona NĂ Cassaithe (Assistant Professor in History Education) who spoke on her work with primary students on traditional medical knowledge in Ireland
- Salma Ishaq (Regent High School) who discussed her work with Natasha Hodgson on women, gardening and medicine
- Paula Ogun Hector (Tapestry of Black Britons) who shared her interdisciplinary approach to the topic
- Debbie Bogard (British Library) and Barbara Trapani (SHP) who explored source material related to medieval herbals
