Web accessibility statement

Teaching Medieval Women is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This statement was written on 26 March 2026.

This accessibility statement applies to the Teaching Medieval Women website.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use these websites. This means you should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the websites using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the websites using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the websites using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. We meet most of the requirements for WGAC 2.2 (AA), but we have yet to reach full-compliance due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible due to non-compliance with the accessibility regulations. Where we have content that is not yet accessible, we have an ongoing programme of work that will help us to reach compliance. We are in the process of making sure all areas of the website are accessible, but if you notice any issues, please do contact us at catherine.gower@ntu.ac.uk or contact@teachingmedievalwomen.org.

PDFs

Some PDF documents uploaded may not be fully accessible to screen reader software or may be hindered by watermarks. We are in the process of updating our existing PDFs to ensure they are accessible and to ensure all future PDF uploads are compliant.

If there is a PDF or a resource that does not work for you or any accessibility devices, please contact us at catherine.gower@ntu.ac.uk or contact@teachingmedievalwomen.org and we can send you a new copy in your preferred format.

Videos

All of our videos include captions, but do not include separate audio descriptions. This does mean that provision of video will fall short of the WCAG 2.2 AA standards.

How we test our website

We completed a full manual check of this website in March 2026 using Axe developer tools following the WGAC 2.2 (AA) guidelines.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We have an ongoing programme of work to address any accessibility issues that are highlighted by our scans. We are continually working on our content and site structure and are finding ways to make the site easier to navigate.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was first prepared on 26 March 2026.

We will update the statement as and when changes are made.
