SUMMARY:Teaching Medieval Women Nottingham CPD Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:TMW’s third annual CPD day for teachers will take place on Thursday 25 June. \n\n\n\n\nThe Teaching Medieval Women CPD day is intended as a forum to share our experiences of teaching\, to showcase new examples of medieval women with presentations from academics and teachers\, and to collaborate on and co-produce materials to understand how we can best to support the teaching of this topic and attract and engage a new generation of students. \n\n\n\n\nTeaching Medieval Women is part of a wider project which through collaboration between teachers and academics seeks to bring new research on the lives of medieval women into the teaching of medieval history at school. This project was borne out of a shared realisation that women are often under-represented in many of the medieval history classes taught at\, especially\, KS3 and further up the curriculum as well. We hope to remedy this by bringing together teachers and academics to share our respective knowledge and expertise and to co-create a variety of materials that are attractive\, engaging – and free – to use in the classroom. \n\n\n\n\nThe CPD day will include: \n\nTalks by leading academics on different examples of medieval women\nDiscussion panels on how to incorporate materials into teaching and the curriculum review\nResource design workshops\nA complimentary lunch and teas and coffees throughout the day\n\n\n\n\n\nConfirmed speakers for the event on 25 June include: \n\nDr Natasha Hodgson (Nottingham Trent University)\nDr Ellie Woodacre (University of Winchester)\nDr Charlotte May (University of Nottingham\, Manuscripts and Special Collections)\nSusanna Boyd (The City of Leicester College)\nPeter Mantin\nRhia Moore\n\n\n\n\nThe event is free to attend\, however spaces are limited and so we advise to register your place as soon as possible. We also ask if you could let us know if you cannot attend so we can ensure others can attend. \nRegister via Eventbrite. \n\n\nThe deadline for registration is 19 June 2025. \n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me at Catherine.gower@ntu.ac.uk.
