DESCRIPTION:British Library Medieval Women Teacher CPD Part 1 – Medieval Women and Power \nMon 11th November 2024 5pm-7.30pm \nRegister for free on the Eventbrite: https://bit.ly/BritishLibraryTeachingMedievalWomenCPD1 \nThe first of four free twilight CPD workshops which are aimed at Key Stage 3\, 4 and 5 teachers and educators who are interested in how we teach and learn about Medieval Women. \nThis series of CPD supports the British Library’s Medieval Women school visits programme. \nThey include free exhibition entry and a guided tour of the British Library’s new exhibition\, ‘Medieval Women: In Their Own Words‘ supported by academic historians and teachers from the Teaching Medieval Women group in conjunction with the British Library learning team. Each session will be based around a series of different themes linked to current medieval topics in secondary education. Exhibition visits will take place between 5pm-6pm. \nThe exhibition highlights the voices and experiences of medieval women\, examining the diverse roles and impact of women during this time\, searching for what was lost or ‘hidden\,’ celebrating their many achievements\, and connecting past lives with the issues and experiences of women today. \nThis first session takes us on a curated tour of select individuals\, texts and objects in the exhibition to explore the theme of medieval women and power. It will highlight the variety of ways in which we can investigate and learn about how women held\, expressed and wielded power in the medieval world. \nSpeakers include \nDr Natasha Hodgson – Nottingham Trent University \nProfessor Jonathan Phillips – Royal Holloway University of London \nDr Ellie Woodacre – University of Winchester \nJake Unwin – Girls’ School Day Trust \nAfter a break for refreshments\, the second part of the workshop will run from 6.15pm to 7.30pm held in the Learning Centre. SUMMARY:Gender\, Religion and Conflict Conference
DESCRIPTION:Taking place at Nottingham Trent University on the 14th and 15th of November 2024\, the Gender\, Religion and Conflict conference presents doctoral students and early career researchers with the opportunity to share their research relating to the conference themes\, with papers spanning from 11th century religious contention\, early modern gender and Catholicism to studies of contemporary female leadership in the financial sector. A keynote lecture will be provided by Dr Natasha Hodgson (Nottingham Trent University). \nThe two-day conference will run from 9am-4pm on the 14th and 15th of November\, with two days of complimentary lunches and an optional complimentary cave tour on the afternoon of Friday 15th of November. (Please note that cave tour spaces are limited to 25 so we ask for those interested to express this on the booking form\, this does not confirm a place on the cave tour\, you will be contacted on the 30th of October with confirmation of a place on the tour). \nWe will also be holding an informal conference dinner on Thursday 14th of November\, the venue has not yet been confirmed for this but once again\, we would encourage attendees to register their interest for this on the booking form.
